Unusual Final Fantasy 14 Bug Makes Old Raid Nearly Impossible
Players discover a bug in the early access of Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail that is making an older raid nearly impossible to beat.
Leading up to the launch of the new expansion, Square Enix gave players who pre-ordered the expansion early access to its content, letting them play Dawntrail nearly a week in advance starting on June 28. However, the game”s official Twitter account had to release a statement following issues with the PS5 version of Final Fantasy 14 that is preventing some players from downloading it, complete with a guide detailing some steps to solve the issue.
Dawntrail”s Early Access Period Can Fix Issues Before Launch
Dawntrail is one of Final Fantasy 14”s most hotly-anticipated expansions, and giving some players early access to its content seemed to be a way for Square Enix to make sure things are working as intended before it releases next week. In fact, the developers are seemingly working on a solution to potential server congestion when Dawntrail releases, as the game is known for having population issues whenever new content is released.Close
To fix the release date discrepancy and install the game, Square Enix suggests that players who already own the PS5 version install it from their library and access the Dawntrail content there. Alternatively, players upgrading for the first time from the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 14 should go to the game”s PlayStation Store page and select the “PS5 Upgrade Edition” to ensure they have installed the correct one.
The issue still persisted for some players even after using these methods, however, so the game”s Twitter account also suggested installing the Free Trial version of Final Fantasy 14 to circumvent the problem. It is unclear how effective this is or if the issue exists on the much newer Xbox port, but there have not been any official reports from that platform as of now.
