According to a senior developer of World of Warcraft, the game”s upcoming “Story Mode” being added in The War Within expansion may be expanded in the future. World of Warcraft is quite possibly the most famous MMORPG ever released, paving the way for future MMOs. After 20 years of being focused on the cooperative fight, Blizzard is adding a way for solo players to experience the last bosses of the game”s raid alone.
The War Within is the next expansion for World of Warcraft. The War Within is introducing a brand-new difficulty called Story Mode to World of Warcraft. Some of the greatest moments in World of Warcraft come from the game”s many raids. These epic battles see players coming together to take on massive bosses, after which key points of the story unfold. However, not every player enjoys the intensity of these huge fights. And even if they do enjoy them, these raids are extraordinarily difficult for solo players to do, even when queuing with random players. Yet so much of World of Warcraft”s story is locked behind doing these raids. This is where The War Within”s new Story Mode comes into play.

Story Mode is a new raid difficulty designed for players who don”t enjoy the intensity of raids but still want to experience the story of World of Warcraft. Story Mode removes the pressure of participating in large multiplayer raids, letting solo players still get the most out of World of Warcraft. This mode will be released for The War Within”s content alongside its “looking for raid” implementation. But in the future, Story Mode may come to old World of Warcraft raids, according to associate game director Morgan Day in an interview with PC Gamer.
World of Warcraft”s Story Mode Could Come to Old Raids

Morgan Day gave players some hope that Story Mode may come to older World of Warcraft raids, but made it clear that the team”s current priority is having Story Mode ready for The War Within”s release. The team behind Story Mode have thought about what the leveling experience for a player would be like if they could level through the raids and bosses of World of Warcraft, opening up events that many players have never seen before to a whole new player base. For now, however, this is just a goal to work towards and not something in active development for the game.
The War Within is a great starting point for newcomers. New players will be able to join at the beginning of a brand-new expansion and be able to experience the end-game content comfortably without the pressures of multiplayer raids. It”s even possible to play World of Warcraft on Xbox thanks to cloud gaming, opening the MMO up to a whole new audience. The War Within expansion launches on August 26.
