According to recently leaked information, the next Meta Quest VR headset, the Meta Quest 4, may be releasing in 2026. The leak also revealed some details regarding the next Meta Quest Pro headset.
The Meta Quest has performed extremely well among its VR headset competitors over the years. While the original Meta/Oculus Quest wasn”t as powerful as its tethered competitors, the ability to play games or enjoy virtual reality experiences without the need for external sensors or cables won over many gamers. Since then, the system has undergone upgrades that have improved performance and graphics, with the Meta Quest 3 being the most recent release. However, it seems Meta is already looking ahead to the future of the device series.
This new leak comes via The Information, which spoke to three individuals who have supposedly worked on the devices. According to the leak, the Meta Quest 4 will come in two different varieties. One will be the “standard” model, codenamed Pismo Low, while the “premium” model is codenamed Pismo High. Meanwhile, the follow-up to the Meta Quest Pro, codenamed La Jolla, is supposedly also in development and will allegedly ship in 2027. The headset will reportedly also keep the battery at the back of the device, which some users have reported has helped to maintain balance and comfort while wearing the headset.
