Overwatch 2 experienced significant server issues, rendering the game unplayable for a substantial period, much to the dismay of its dedicated player base. The outage, which occurred over the weekend—a prime time for many players—left fans frustrated and unable to enjoy the latest content. This disruption follows the recent reveal of the highly anticipated Rose Gold Bundle for Mercy, a limited-time skin benefiting breast cancer research. Despite the game’s rough patches since its launch and the controversial shutdown of the original Overwatch, the current server troubles have particularly irked players eager to dive into the sequel.
As of now, the servers are back online, but players remain cautious, awaiting further updates from Blizzard to ensure stability.
UPDATE: Overwatch 2 appears to be back online. Original story follows.
Overwatch 2 is having server troubles, and as of this writing, is currently down and unable to play. Overwatch 2 fans are understandably unhappy at this development, especially since it”s happening at the end of a weekend when many fans have time to play.
Overwatch 2 just saw the Rose Gold Bundle reveal for Mercy, pleasing fans who have been wanting to grab the alternate skin for the healer for some time. While the bundle has yet to release, player will be given a limited window to acquire it, and as usual, it will benefit charity in an effort to help fund breast cancer research in pursuit of treatments and a cure. The game has certainly had some rough patches since its release, including the shake-up where the developer decided to shut down the original game in favor of the sequel when it launched, but right now, players are upset that they simply can”t play.

Fans started reporting problems with the game at about 8pm Pacific Time. Those who weren”t actively playing the game found themselves unable to get in, and those who had been in matches reported that their games crashed, and that they were placed back in the Overwatch 2 queue. Unfortunately, Blizzard has yet to issue a statement regarding the outage, so it”s unclear what”s behind it. It”s possible that a DDoS attack is underway, or there may be a problem where the servers are located, but until something official is stated, there”s no way to be certain.
Overwatch 2 Servers Could Be Unstable After Returning
For now, the best thing players can do is hang tight and wait. While it”s an exciting time to be playing Overwatch 2, unfortunately, there isn”t really anything players can do while the servers are down or an attack is underway. Even once the game becomes accessible, there”s a possibility that it may be unstable, and could lead to matches being interrupted or lag spikes causing problems that could make the match unfair for either or both teams. It may be best to spend time doing something else until official word comes from Blizzard that the game has stabilized.Close
This is an exciting time to be an Overwatch 2 fan, but obviously, if one can”t get into the game, any new seasonal announcements or skins are a moot point. With any luck, fans won”t have to wait until Overwatch 2 Season 11 is set to reveal for everything to be back to normal.
