The latest reveal showed off more from the single-player campaign, in the form of a playthrough for the campaign level “Most Wanted.” Shared onstage during Gamescom 2024”s opening event, the campaign shows players and their companions attempting to obtain data from a United States politician during a crowded fundraiser event, in order to extract returning Black Ops Cold War character Russel Adler.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Campaign Playthrough Shows Off Multiple Approaches

In contrast to the typical bombastic reputation of Call of Duty campaign missions, the “Most Wanted” mission playthrough starts with a quieter infiltration, in keeping with the spy thriller focus of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Set in 1991, the player must infiltrate a fundraiser for real-life U.S. Presidential candidate Bill Clinton. Their objective: To secretly obtain a retinal scan from a U.S. Senator, use it to enter a black site underneath the building, and rescue Adler. Notably, the mission shows off a number of different ways the player can go about that task, ranging from accosting the senator directly and restraining him, to approaching the senator with blackmail material in the form of an illicit videotape.Close

The playthrough concludes with an infiltration of the black site itself, where players engage armed soldiers from “Pantheon,” a mysterious organization at the center of Black Ops 6”s plot. Even here, players are offered a choice of a “quiet” or “loud” approach. When rescued, Adler even makes a reference to longtime Black Ops alumni Frank Woods, who also appears in Black Ops 6. The rescue escalates in a more typical Call of Duty fashion, with the player demonstrating some interesting gadgets, like a taser-like disruptor grenade and an explosive homing knife, before concluding with a motorcycle chase through crowded nighttime streets.

Black Ops 6 looks like it”s giving fans of the popular Call of Duty subseries much to look forward to, especially in terms of having an engaging and detailed single-player campaign. The shift of time frame to the 1990s will also allow players to enjoy more modern weaponry while still appreciating the historically-rooted characteristics of Black Ops stories.
