World of Warcraft fans have much to look forward to in 2025, as developers hint at the return of the popular WoW Remix events. Building on the success of past events like Plunderstorm and Remix: Mists of Pandaria, Blizzard is planning to introduce new and experimental events alongside the return of Remix in upcoming expansions.
With a roadmap for 2025 set to be revealed soon, players can anticipate an exciting year filled with fresh content and innovative gameplay experiences in Azeroth.
Key Takeaways
- World of Warcraft likely bringing back WoW Remix due to its past success, offering new experimental events in the future.
- Developers hinted at WoW Remix return in upcoming expansions, confirming plans for recurring events like Timewalking.
- Fans can expect new Remix events alongside other experimental events in World of Warcraft”s 2025 roadmap.
According to multiple developers, World of Warcraft is planning more exciting events next year, likely including the return of WoW Remix. Fans of recent limited-time World of Warcraft events like Plunderstorm and Remix can look forward to similar experiments in the future.
World of Warcraft began a game-changing experiment called WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria on May 16 of this year. This throwback event allowed fans to power through Mists of Pandaria with overpowered characters to experience the story, unlock achievements, and even earn rare World of Warcraft cosmetics like the Tusks of Mannoroth. Remix was extremely popular, with a high player count all the way through the event’s conclusion on August 19.

While the event’s popularity made it seem like WoW Remix’s return was inevitable, multiple World of Warcraft developers have all but confirmed that is the case. At Gamescom, WoW content creators Taliesin & Evitel spoke with game director Ion Hazzikostas about several topics, including the limited time experiments like Remix. “It’s probably no secret that Remix in some form is likely to return,” he said near the 20:30 mark in the interview, “but we haven’t just said ‘We’ve done Plunderstorm, we’ve done Remix, we’re done, let’s keep recycling those.’ We want to keep exploring new experiments, new ways to experience World of Warcraft.” While not set in stone, fans can safely expect new Remix events in World of Warcraft, alongside other experimental events.
World of Warcraft Remix is ‘Likely to Return’
Hazzikostas wasn’t the only developer to say this. During an interview with Wowhead before the launch of WoW: The War Within, World of Warcraft production director Michael Bybee said WoW Remix was designed to be a recurring event. “The initial intent with MoP Remix was that this is something like Timewalking that will come back on a regular basis,” he said in an attempt to assuage the fears of players who might not have collected all the cosmetics from the event. Between Hazzikostas and Bybee’s words, it seems likely that WoW will not only Remix new expansions in the future, but rerun previous events as well.Close
Like it did last year, World of Warcraft has already confirmed a roadmap for 2025 will be coming in the next few months. Hazzikostas warned that not all the Plunderstorm and Remix-like events will be spelled out explicitly on the diagram, but he teased “question marks on the roadmap, and mysteries to be explored,” like World of Warcraft did with the secrets on the 2024 version, so fans can look forward to some exciting stuff next year.
“It’s probably no secret that Remix in some form is likely to return, but we haven’t just said ‘We’ve done Plunderstorm, we’ve done Remix, we’re done, let’s keep recycling those.’ We want to keep exploring new experiments, new ways to experience World of Warcraft.”
That said, the rest of World of Warcraft in 2024 is loosely planned out already. The final campaign chapter for WoW: The War Within just went live, and the raid and its subsequent epilogue will become available on September 10. Patch 10.0.5 will probably arrive some time in late October or early November, with the next update expected in early 2025. World of Warcraft roadmaps have historically been revealed in late December, so players will probably see the same at the end of this year.
